What are LED headlights?

In recent years, LED lights have become increasingly common in cars. LED stands for Light Emitting Diode, which produces light in an energy-efficient manner. The color tone is determined by the material used.

Initially, LED lights were mainly seen in vehicle rear lights, brake lights, turn signals, and daytime running lights, as it was not yet possible to produce sufficiently bright white light suitable for headlights.

LED lights have several advantages over more traditional solutions. They are energy efficient, enable precise and flexible light distribution, have a long service life with good cooling, and offer a lot of freedom in terms of design.

Because LED headlights do not generate heat like halogen or xenon bulbs, ice and snow on the headlight covers do not always melt away, which can impair visibility. For this reason, many manufacturers have added heating to the covers or conducted heat from the rear of the headlight to the lens.
